CRIME SITUATION

                        There were 65,029 cognizable cases reported in the year 2005, as against 62,514 cases in 2004 and 58,923 cases in 2003.  The crime increased, marginally. Of the above 65,029  cases, the  10,856 are under the Excise laws.
