STATE FINGER PRINT BUREAU, BHUBANESWAR
1 The State Fingerprint Bureau was created on 1st April, 1936, when the State of Orissa was formed. The 30,000 fingerprint slips on record were inherited from Bihar. The fingerprint record slips as on 31.12.2005 are 48515.
2 During the year the fingerprint record slips of 585 convicted criminals were classified and tested under Henry system. The fingerprint slips of 3352 unidentified persons were searched with reference to Bureau records. The identity could be established in 43 cases. The 301 search slips were returned due to defective prints. The remaining 3008 search slips did not identify the persons, because their fingerprint records are not available in the Bureau. The fingerprint record slips of 551 convicted criminals were consigned to National Crime Records Bureau (C.F.P.B.) New Delhi for permanent record in the Central Pool. The fingerprint classification formula in respect of 17 convicted criminals were supplied to the districts for entry in their history sheets.
3 The 70 Police Officers were trained on fingerprint and foot print science.
