HAND WRITING BUREAU

 

                 Hand Writing Bureau, stationed at Bhubaneswar, examines the hand written documents and expert opinions are given. Such handwritten documents relate to departmental and criminal proceedings, forgery and the various other crimes. In the year 2005, the 20,669 documents, relating to 196 cases, were examined and the opinion given. Rs. 39,110/- was also collected for this service.

 

PHOTO BUREAU

                        The Photo Bureau, situated at Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar, prepared 883 photo copies in 663 cases, all relating to finger print matters. In another 199 cases, the 20,669 photos were prepared and sent to Hand Writing experts for their opinion. The 1337 Photo copies of absconded persons are prepared and sent for wide publicity through media and mass communication. Photo Bureau Vediographed the 152 incidents of law and order.                           It checked at 28 places the media persons and their equipments during the visits of VIPs and VVIPs. The 46 persons were trained and photo identity cards of 42 employees were prepared.

 Dog Squad :

                        The Dog squad has been serving Orissa Police since 1961 for investigation of crimes by the Crime Branch.  During the year 2005, the Dogs were engaged in 549 cases. Out of which in 313 cases, the clues of investigation were detected by them. The 52% f success has been achieved. The Dogs are also being used for the purposes other than crime investigations.

 

 SIGNALS

 

                    Signal establishment is the nervous system of the Police Organisation. Quick flow of information is ensured by the Signals. The two High Frequency Radio Telephonic Stations were installed in Malkangiri District.  The 22 static and   45 mobile V.H.F.  sets were installed in  various Police Station vehicles.  The 27 H.F./ V.H.F. Stations were  installed temporarily  to communicate the  information about  floods in the affected areas.

 

 Apart from above, the 3,887 static/mobile V.H.F. Sets and 2,066 Walky Talky   Sets were deployed during the law and order arrangements made for the festive occasions, V.I.P./ V.V.I.P. visit/ by-election and meeting places. The age-old pigeons service, for the purpose of communication, has been discontinued. The Pigeons Lofts have been closed except as a museum. The Police Signal technology has received a quantum jump by   introduction of the Satellite communication ( V-SAT & MART) in the Police District Headquarters.
