THE ORISSA SHORTHAND AND TYPEWRITING INSTITUTE BHUBANESWAR
This Institute at Bhubaneswar is meant to train ‘Shorthand’ and ‘Typewriting’ in Oriya and English to outsiders, as well as, the in-service Stenographers, Typists and Junior Assistants. During the year 2005, the 44 in-service personnel (Stenographers, Typists/Junior Assistants ) have been imparted the training. The 147 OAS (Probationers) have also been imparted the English type writing training.
Rajya Sainik Board
1 The Rajya Sainik Board, Orissa has been established to promote welfare and resettlement of ex-servicemen, war widows, disabled ex-servicemen and families of defence personnel belonging to the State. The six Zilla Sainik Boards, one each at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Kalahandi are functioning under the Rajya Sainik Board. Processing Second World
War Veteran Pension, applications, issuing ex-servicemen Identity Cards, rendering employment assistance to ex-servicemen, war widows/disabled ex-servicemen and to the members of the families of deceased Defence Service personnel are the main functions of these Boards. Achievements of the Sainik Board organisation, during the year 2005, are given below :
(a) Second World War Veteran Pension :
A sum of Rs.6,72,000/- has been disbursed from April, 05 to December, 2005 to 121 Second World War Veterans / widows towards World War-II Pension @ Rs.500/- per month.
(b) Issue of ex-servicemen Identity Cards :
The 954 ex-servicemen/ widows have been issued with the ex-servicemen/ widow Identity Cards by different Zilla Sainik Boards of the State.
(c) Employment Assistance to ex-servicemen :
The 12 ex-servicemen have been given the employment assistance in different Public Sector Banks and one ex-serviceman in the State Public Sector Undertaking.
