State Guest House, Bhubaneswar has 58 rooms. The capacity in terms of guest days is  21,170 per annum. Currently, the renovation work is going on.

1     Orissa bhawan/ Niwas, NEW DELHI:

      The office of Resident Commissioner, New Delhi has to liaise and to coordinate with the various Ministries, Institutions and organisations in New Delhi as per the requirement of the State Government.  During the current financial year (2006-07), several major initiatives have been taken, which are briefly stated below:

i)       Integrated Office :

All Departmental as well as State Public Sector Undertaking Liaison Offices, located at Delhi, have been integrated/merged with the Office of the Resident Commissioner. This has resulted in optimal utilization of resources, better co-ordination and greater focus in liaisoning and follow up activities.

ii)      Orissa Investment & Export Promotion Office :

A self-contained Cell has been set up in the office of the Resident Commissioner to undertake investment and export promotion activities. Some of the activities taken up till date include participation in IT Trade Fair in Delhi and Dehradun, bringing out a Directory of Medium and Large Scale Enterprises in the State and preparation of various Project reports for availing of financial assistance from Government of India, including projects like renovation of Utkalika, purchase of space in India Exposition Mart at Greater Noida.

iii)       Liaison and follow up work :

a)       A comprehensive website has been established for web-enabled communication between the Resident Commissioner’s Office and the departments of the State Government.  The system includes communication of sanction orders, status of pending proposals, feedback on meetings, etc.

b)       In-house modern conferencing facilities have been created in the Orissa Niwas as well as in Orissa Bhawan.

c)       Nodal Officers have been earmarked in the Office of the Resident Commissioner for various Ministries alongwith counterpart officers in the departments in the State Government for preparing inventory of pending issues and effective follow up.

d)       Close liaison is maintained with Ministries in Government of India as well as external agencies as DFID, World Bank, etc. Some of the proposals that were successfully followed up by this Office on the external assistance front, include sanction of DFID assistance for Public Enterprises Reforms Programme  Phase-II involving grant of  £ 30.487 million.  Apart from this, Government of India in the Department of Economic Affairs have cleared two major proposals for DFID assistance for Rs.500 crore for Millennium Development Goals and Rs.515 crore for Land Administrative project.

e)       As far as funding under Central/Centrally Sponsored Schemes is concerned, some of the major proposals which were successfully pursued include grant of Rs.50 crore for Jajpur Steel & Metallurgical Cluster under the Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (IIUS), sanction and release of funds under major schemes like Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan, PMGSY etc.

iv)        Streamlining of Office Administration/welfare measures:

Ø   Computerisation of a large number of activities, including Pay Roll, Room Reservation System, Time Office etc.

Ø    104 Single Room tenements have been purchased from DDA for enhancing the satisfaction level in staff housing.

Ø   4 MIG flats are also being purchased from DDA for providing accommodation to senior staff.

2     UTKAL BHAWAN, KOLKATA.

The Utkal Bhawan, Kolkata has 68 beds in 28 (twenty eight) rooms. There are six A/C Special Rooms, eleven ordinary A/C double bed rooms and two single A/C rooms. 19,043 guest days were entertained and Rs.8, 61,041/- was collected as revenue.

3    ORISSA COMPLEX, MUMBAI

The Orissa Complex at Vashi, Navi Mumbai is under construction at a cost of      Rs.6,79, 06, 679/- (Ruppes six crore seventy-nine lakh six thousand and  six hundred seventy-nine) only. The IDCO, Bhubaneswar has been entrusted to construct the complex. As per the status report submitted by I.D.C.O., it will be completed by the end of June 2007.
